Propelled by People Our Stories

Jeanette Capuno

Stateroom Attendant, Freedom of the Seas

Jeanette Capuno grew up in the countryside of Batangas, a province in the Philippines. She smiles when she reflects on her childhood, playing among the beautiful trees, listening to the birds, and taking in the fresh air.

“My father once told me that if you bring more patience into your life, you’ll be successful following your dreams,” she said.

She took that lesson to heart and brings it to her work every day, leading with kindness and spreading joy to our guests and her fellow crew.

Jeanette started her career with Royal Caribbean Group 26 years ago as a bell attendant. Her goal was to be a stateroom attendant, a role she’s now enjoyed for 20 years.

As a stateroom attendant, she’s responsible for cleaning and maintaining guest cabins during each sailing and making sure each stateroom is tidy and replenished with supplies each day. She enjoys making guests feel like they’re in their home away from home and looks for ways to add thoughtful touches, like folding towels into special animal designs so they return to a delightful surprise after a day exploring the ship.

By the end of a sailing, guests know her by name and appreciate the extra effort she puts in to making them feel at home. “I love my job,” she said. “RCG caters to the needs of its guests and ensures an exceptional stay, and I’m proud to be a part of that.”

Jeanette sees every day on the job as a new opportunity to learn and build her skills to become even more effective at delivering an unforgettable experience for our guests. She hopes one day to be recognized as employee of the month or year.

“Royal Caribbean changed my life and the lifestyle of my family, and I’m very thankful for that,” she said. “I can’t even count all the blessings in my life.”
