Royal Caribbean Group is full of exciting opportunities, and no one knows that better than Tyler Peraza. After seven years with the company, he’s been granted some incredible opportunities, including his first day experience.

“My first week with Royal Caribbean group, as soon as I got hired, I was told to book a plane ticket to Spain for Symphony of the Seas inaugural sailing,” Tyler said, “and that was an incredible experience and introduction to the company.”

“A few years ago, I got the opportunity to go to different islands in the Caribbean to do mass hiring events during our Return to Service. That’s where I fell in love with talent acquisition,” he said.

There are many surprising things that go on behind closed doors at our company, and for Tyler, one of the most surprising things was learning how many people it takes to keep the company growing successfully. “People would be surprised to learn how many people and how many departments it takes. It felt like I was shaking hands and meeting people constantly,” he said.

Travel is at the heart of what Tyler does, and getting to experience it with his loved ones is an amazing experience. “One of my fondest memories was on Symphony of the Seas. After the inaugural in Spain, we had the inaugural in Miami, and I had the opportunity to take my family,” he reminsced with a smile. “If you go into my house, you’ll see a big frame with a picture we took on the cruise. It’s one of our fondest memories as a family.”

While one of the best perks of working with Royal Caribbean Group is traveling the globe, another great perk is our tuition reimbursement. “When I started with the company, I was getting my bachelor’s degree done, and [RCG] really helped me finance the tuition,” Tyler shared, “it was a great benefit that I saw in the beginning of my career. Royal Caribbean Group is all about investing in their people and advancing their career.”

For our Propelled by People: Our Stories photo series by photographer Steve McCurry, we asked Tyler what he hopes people will gain from this project. “I really hope people recognize the pride and joy from the people that work here. People are extremely proud to work for this company,” he said, “and when I first started, I met a lot of people that have been here for so many years. I definitely drank the Kool-Aid, and I can say that working here is an amazing thing.”
