Afiya Manswell has been with Royal Caribbean Group (RCG) for over 11 years. She began her journey working onboard and eventually transitioned to Perfect Day at CocoCay, where she continued working within in the Human Resources Department for Private Destinations. Every day, Afiya wakes up appreciating the results of her dedication and efforts at Perfect Day, the breath-taking views and wildlife.

Afiya finds fulfillment in knowing that her work contributes to helping fellow team members. Afiya’s passion for her role is fueled by the dynamic environment and the opportunity to interact with amazing colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

Throughout her time with RCG, Afiya has remained committed to her values, emphasizing honesty, efficiency and integrity. “I always strive to be as honest as possible in everything I do and to work as efficiently as I can,” she explained. She continually seeks opportunities for personal and professional growth, aiming to become a better leader. According to Afiya, “I want to learn and develop wherever possible, stay positive by sticking to my morals and ethics and keep an open mind.”

Royal Caribbean Group offers many growth opportunities, and for Afiya, stepping out of her comfort zone was essential to seizing them. She took on the challenge of joining the team at Labadee, another private destination owned by RCG, which was an entirely new experience. While unfamiliar with the territory and unsure about the environment, Afiya said, “Once I arrived, it gave me a fresh perspective on certain things, and it helped to enhance my skills, training and personal growth. Moreover, the exposure in Labadee helped my further professional development as a trainer.” Afiya’s time at Labadee also reminded her of how fortunate she is to work for such a diverse company.

For Afiya, one of the most rewarding aspects of working at RCG is the opportunity to travel. “A few years ago, the most adventurous thing I ever did was to take a tour to the Pyramids of Giza,” she shared, “I never imagined visiting Egypt, and seeing the pyramids, standing next to camels, and experiencing such an iconic historical site”

Reflecting on her career, Afiya is grateful for the opportunities RCG has provided. She states, “Working for a company that allows you to see the world, meet incredible people from diverse cultures—what more could you ask for? I thank God for these experiences, and I feel very honored and continue to be ‘Loyal to Royal.’”
