Jonno Vetsich
Sr. Specialist, Casting | Royal Caribbean
When it comes to pushing the bar in what is possible both on stage and off, Jonno Vetsich is proud to be an RCG employee.
As an advocate for weaving technology and innovation into his everyday work as well as on stage, Jonno is excited to work on solutions and think outside the box to bring innovation to life.
Having transitioned recently from being an onboard employee, where he started as a dancer 18 years ago, to a shoreside role has been the biggest step in his career journey so far.
Jonno began working with Royal Caribbean Group in 2006, dancing his way across several Royal Caribbean International ships, including Voyager of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas and Explorer of the Seas, where he finally became dance captain, an incredible feat and honor for someone in the performing arts.
From dancing and performing in hit Broadway musicals, like “Mamma Mia!,” “Hairspray” and “Chicago,” to going behind the scenes and working through the logistics of casting, productions and artistic integrity, Jonno has experienced more than what he had hoped for as a performer. “The majority of my current coworkers – they are also previous cast members, people who I shared the stage with,” he said, “So having that comradery, those special relationships with these people from 10, 15 years ago, that you shared the stage with in an artistic capacity, to now learning about their brilliant minds and work alongside them here in this space again is a real testament to the family approach that is Royal Caribbean Entertainment.”
He mentioned that “moving into full oversight of our entire operations and now working with our 28 different ships, sourcing talent for all of the different casts,” has been an incredible opportunity.
“In the last two years, I’ve seen my skillset, and my abilities grow exponentially.”
As a member of the ERG Anchored in Pride, Jonno remembers raising the pride flag onboard Ovation of the Seas during his time there, an experience in which he felt “a real sense of pride and belonging at RCG.”
He hopes that his story inspires people to “think about their future prospects” and “ignite their own dreams.”
