Damian Sarno

Manager, Design & Fabrication – Royal Caribbean Group

When it comes to bringing ideas to life, it might be in Damian Sarno’s DNA. His mother was an architect, and it seems she passed along some ideal traits for his role as Manager of Design & Fabrication.

“I support innovative ideas by making them physical,” he said, often bringing napkin sketches to life as physical prototypes that can be tested and revised, enabling teams to make important decisions that impact user experience and cost.

His work has impacted projects on ships throughout our fleet, from restaurants and signage to iconic structural centerpieces like The Pearl, which recently debuted on Icon of the Seas.

Since he began working at RCG in 2017, Damian said he has propelled his career forward by getting out of his office and getting to know people.

“I let people know what I do and, even with a limited bandwidth, I am happy to help them with something,” he said. “It creates a bond, and being personable is very important – especially in a company with a lot of people. Each of us is a piece of the puzzle.”
