Madison Sweeney’s journey with Royal Caribbean Group started with the summer internship program last year, and in that time, Madison has watched herself and her team grow.

“I have a graphic design background, and I’m the only one on my team with this strong suit,” she said. “My team will ask me to create assets in a short amount of time and I get it done quickly, and the work is done very well.”

From an early age, Madison has loved cruising, and she attributes her love for the industry to her mom, who worked for Royal Caribbean Group for 15 years. It was her mom who told her about the internship program at the company, leading Madison to join the internship and subsequently, find her place in the company.

Since she started full-time with the company, Madison now supports specific areas like port shopping, art and retail. During her internship, she focused on producing graphic design assets for Royal Caribbean International’s President’s Cruise and World Cruise, as well as helping with the launch of Icon of the Seas.

What makes Madison feel good about working for Royal Caribbean Group? “My team is incredible, they make me feel good about working here,” she said. “I have an amazing manager; she puts little things on our desks and gives us positive feedback. It makes me want to keep coming into the office every day with a positive attitude and get my work done.”

“My team relies on one another, and we bounce ideas off each other often. It’s a team effort to get things done, and no idea is a bad idea for us,” Madison said.

Madison is proud to work for an incredible company like Royal Caribbean Group, enjoying the challenges and exciting projects she has to face. “There are so many moving parts in this company that make it the best [in the industry] and it takes great leadership and a great team to make you feel like you can show up every day and put forth your best effort,” she said. “When you’re challenged, that makes you stronger and better in this environment, which ultimately provides the company with even more success.”

For the Propelled by People: Our Stories photo series, we asked Madison what she hopes people will gain from viewing the photos taken by photographer Steve McCurry.  “This photo series is a great opportunity for this company, as a whole, to get to know each other even more,” she said, “and learning more about the employees, their stories and departments contributes to the success of the company.”
