Mickey Martin
Cruise Director | Rhapsody of the Seas
Mickey Martin grew up in a family of four with his loving mother and two sisters, and from an early age he knew the importance of caring for others. Growing up, Mickey showed much interest in singing, dancing and painting. Though he never attended school for the arts, he managed to develop these talents and start making a living out of them, aside from his college career in Hotel Business and Administration.
By the time he was finishing college, he had heard about Royal Caribbean and decided to apply for a job. When he went for an interview in his home country of Peru, jobs for entertainment and activities staff were not available. That didn’t stop him from pursuing his dreams, so he took a job in Housekeeping as pool attendant in 2008.
Once onboard, he saw an opportunity for growth in the Cruise Staff and worked hard towards reaching that goal. With time and lots of patience (and his stubborn personality), that goal became a reality in 2010.
After five years of working in the same role, the desire to do more for others made him shoot for another challenge: becoming Activities Manager. With all the experience he acquired as Cruise Staff, he got the role.
After almost 15 years of hard work and lots of patience, Mickey has become the very first Peruvian to hold the title of Cruise Director, not only in Royal Caribbean Group but in the cruise industry. He’s incredibly proud of all his hard work and dedication that has brought him to this point.
