Morgan Hughes
Singer, Dancer, Aerialist | Odyssey of the Seas
From a small Welsh town to the grand stages of Royal Caribbean, Morgan Hughes’ journey is a remarkable testament to passion, perseverance and the boundless opportunities within our company. Starting dance classes at the young age of three, Morgan’s path led her to complete a qualification in musical theatre and dance in London. Her first professional break came with a role in Hairspray, and she has never looked back since.
Currently on her seventh contract with Royal Caribbean, Morgan shines as a singer, dancer, and aerialist in our innovative shows. “I work in an amazing venue with amazing shows, and I feel like the shows are really innovative,” she shared. Morgan’s commitment to excellence and her willingness to push beyond her comfort zone make each performance an unforgettable experience for our guests. “I’m always ready to try new things, things I’ve not done before, which I think helps with the innovation of the shows,” she added.
Morgan’s enthusiasm for her work is profound. She hopes that the photography from our project with Steve McCurry captures her happiness and passion for performing. “I hope that people see it and that other performers realize that they can do this too,” she said, emphasizing the inspiring and inclusive environment at Royal Caribbean.
One of Morgan’s proudest moments came during her first contract on Symphony of the Seas. It was her first job out of college, and she was both nervous and underconfident. However, the support from choreographers and directors helped build her confidence. “I remember opening night, feeling so proud of everything we had done. It was amazing,” she reminisced. Having her parents see her perform was particularly special, as it felt like a culmination of their years of support and investment in her talent.
Royal Caribbean’s commitment to professional development has played a crucial role in Morgan’s growth as a performer. Starting as a dancer and vocalist in an ensemble, she has since taken on roles as a lead singer and tackled dance-heavy contracts involving aerial work. “I’m learning every single day and becoming a better performer with every contract that I do with Royal,” she said.
What might surprise many is the incredible diversity within Royal Caribbean. “I didn’t imagine I’d have friends from literally every place in the world,” Morgan shared. Working with talented performers of various nationalities has enriched her experience, transforming colleagues into family. “When you work on ships, it’s more like family than just friends, and you build great bonds with your cast and other crew members,” she said.
Morgan’s journey with Royal Caribbean perfectly encapsulates the essence of our Propelled by People initiative. Her story highlights not only the incredible talent and dedication of our people but also the significant growth opportunities within the company. From her beginnings in a small Welsh town to becoming a multifaceted performer on our grand stages, Morgan’s journey is a shining example of how Royal Caribbean nurtures talent and fosters a supportive, inclusive environment. Here, the possibilities for growth are endless, and every day is a new opportunity to shine.
